Trainer Bjorn Baker’s bid to go back-to-back in the Magic Millions 2YO Classic (1200m) has received a shot in the arm after race favourite Warwoven drew ideally in gate six for the $3m showpiece.
Winner of the race last year with O’Ole, Baker will take a two-pronged attack into the lucrative juvenile event with Warwoven, set to be ridden by Rachel King, joined by Masvingo which will exit gate 12 with Jason Collett to ride.
Premier trainers Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott will line-up four runners in Saturday’s Gold Coast feature and had mixed fortunes at the barrier draw.
By Choice and Knightsbridge (Farnan) drew kindly in four and eight respectively, while Shiki and Lumbini drew out wide in 10 and 16.
Following the barrier draw, Warwoven remained a rock solid $2.10 favourite with bookmakers ahead of Zip Lock at $6.50 which was another to draw well in gate three.
Tornado Valley remained at $9 after drawing gate five while explosive last start winner Shiki is at $9.50 after landing gate 10.
In the 3YO Guineas, favourite Ninja’s (Farnan) seemingly vice-like grip on the race loosened after drawing the extreme outside in gate 17.
