There were just two heats for juveniles at Warwick Farm on Monday morning and both were won by Bjorn Baker trained youngsters with one of them the highest priced Australian sold yearling by first season sire Sword of State.
Two year-old Sword of State colt Warwoven was given a good education by Rachel King in his first appearance. He jumped fairly and then settled midfield before working home strongly when angled into the clear to win by nearly two lengths.
A $380,000 Magic Millions purchase from Kia Ora, Warwoven is the first foal of Group II winner Needle and Thread, who comes from an elite European female packed with quality stayers, so this guy has a real mix of Aussie speed and stamina on the page. Kia Ora retained a share in the exciting colt.
