Eton (I Am Invincible), the first foal from the star mare English (Encosta De Lago), made a successful debut at Randwick on Monday. The 3-year-old colt, having his first official trial outing, impressed with a strong performance.

Like his dam, Eton is trained by Gai Waterhouse, who now trains in partnership with Adrian Bott. Ridden by Tim Clark, the colt stepped out in Heat 17 over 740 metres. Settling one pair off the fence, Eton began his run in the straight. As Clark asked the colt to extend after reaching the hindquarters of the horse to his outside, Insist (Extreme Choice), Eton quickly responded, defeating Just Feelin’ Lucky (Justify {USA}) while Insist held on for third.

Eton’s dam, English, was the Champion 2-Year-Old and 3-Year-Old Filly in Australia, and later the Champion Female Sprinter. She won six races, including the G1 All-Aged S., the G1 Doomben 10,000, and the G2 Challenge S. twice.

English was also placed in the G1 Golden Slipper and the G1 TJ Smith S. twice. Eton was a $1.55 million purchase by Kia Ora Stud, TFI, Gai Waterhouse, and Adrian Bott from the draft of Newhaven Park at the 2023 Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale.
